Task 2(A) : Key Artwork
- Research
I first did some research just to look for inspirations and see the
different ways letters can be put together as a logo.

- Sketches
I started sketching out very rough ideas I had in mind just to see the
possibilities of the ideas working out.

- Digital Exploration
I then moved on to the digitisation stage because I didn't wanna waste more
time sketching so I just explored a few more ideas while digitising in Adobe
Illustrator. I firstly wanted to use SHAN for my key artwork as it is the
name most of my really close friends call me but I had a hard time trying to
incorporate all 4 letters together as one for my key artwork so I just
proceeded with SO which is short for Shannon Oon which is the name almost
everyone knows me by.

Task 2(B) : Collateral
For this task we are tasked to design a t-shirt, lapel pin, an animated key artwork and an Instagram account transforming the key artwork into a brand. The output must result from in-depth exploration and must communicate both visually and textually the desired message and mood set by the key artwork and its function. The Animated Key Artwork would be 800/1024 px, height and width.
Animation :
I had a clear idea of how I could animate my key artwork so I tried to do
the animation right away using Adobe After Effects.

Items :
For the collaterals, I decided to put my key artwork on cards, notebook,
sign, t-shirt, and stickers. I searched up mock-ups online and edited them
using photoshop. I tried to use a few colours to add more variations and
so it doesn't look too plain.

FEEDBACK
Week 6
General Feedback: The form looks fine but the logo overall
needs to have a meaning to it.
Specific Feedback: I need to figure out what I want to
portray.
Specific Feedback: The O looks more like an A. Also too involved with the form and no longer loooking at it as letterforms that need to communicate across.
Week 7
General Feedback: You need to pull back and re-evaluate.Specific Feedback: The O looks more like an A. Also too involved with the form and no longer loooking at it as letterforms that need to communicate across.

REFLECTION
Experience:
To be honest I had a hard time completing this task too. It took me a very long time to just come up with a key artwork that could possibly work and I had to keep switching ideas because they were all not working out as I wanted them to be. I had to explore alot and refine alot of versions for the key artwork. For the collaterals part of this task, i would say it was fun and easier to work on because i just had to incorporate the key artwork on the collateral mock-ups. It was nice to see how my key artwork can be used on the items I chose.Observations:
This task made me realise that too thin strokes really wouldn’t work out well. Most of my ideas at the start had quite thin strokes so they couldn’t be seen clearly especially when i had small details on them. When I zoomed out and tried to apply them as collaterals, i really couldn’t see anything except the very thin letters. So i learned to try apply more weight on the strokes so they were more legible.
Findings:
Task 2(A) took me a lot of time because i struggled a lot that part to come up with something good and also i also procrastinated for quite some time because i just didn’t feel like dealing with that task as it made me quite stressed out. But then i suddenly got admitted to the hospital for a week and i just couldn’t get any work done so I was quite behind schedule for abit compared to my friends which scared me and made me realised I should organise my time well and stop avoiding things just because they’re hard.

This time for further reading I decided to search online for some books related to the task. I found this book that I thought could possibly help me understand the task better.
Figure 5.2 Sequence of Cognition, page 50
From this book, I got to read a little about sequence of cognition. It was claimed that having a memorable and instantly recognisable visual identity helps with brand exposure and recognition. The brand's visual identity opens associations and influences perceptions. The sequence of cognition mentioned in this book was shape to color to form.
