Project 2 : Innovative Packaging
INSTRUCTIONS
This is a collaboration project between the Design School and School of Biosciences. For this project, we worked in groups within the design school students and also school of biosciences students. We were actually allowed to pick our group members from packaging design module but however my friend group didn't have equal number of students so we had to split up. My 3 other friends grouped together while I had to group with Kai Wei and 2 other students (Phylise & Zoe). Honestly, at that time I wasn't feeling very happy / hopeful because everyone got to group with people they wanted while I felt like I had no choice but to group with people I wasn't familiar with. Anyways other than that we also got paired up with another group from biosciences school that were creating nuggets made from banana blossom. We as design students had to collaborate with them and create packaging design for the nugget.
So we were firstly given a brief from the bioscience school students about the product before we began creating anything. The things we got to know from that meeting includes the values, ingredients, unique selling point etc.
PROGRESS
It's crazy to think that my group actually didn't have any online meetings to discuss things together it's always just been through chats or the short conversations in physical class. My group started with research of course in terms of colour palette, fonts, logo ideas, and also references of packaging design.
We all just did our own research and put them in our shared Miro board.

And then we moved on to creating our logo, I did some sketches but my group mates started right away with digitisation.

The feedback we got for the above tries were that it shouldn't have too complex illustrations so we had to keep it simple.
Figure 2.3 Refined Logos
We then received feedback from Mr.Shamsul on the logo digitisation so we moved on with applying the colours.

The feedback we received was the design looks plain and the informations are too tight, there should be margins and the logo also should be bigger.
More group refinements :

So I made more and more refinements for the packaging design. At this point, we were kind of close to finalising the design already so I worked on the refinements for the front of the packaging design while Kai Wei was working on the back of the packaging design.
Figure 3.9 Refinements #1
I was suggested to add in more informations about the product like the Unique Selling Points so I tried adding it in and placed on different positions to see which would be the best.

Then, I was also suggested to add the indications for user to open the packaging like the tear indicator so I added that in too. I also tried more different placement for the text.
